I overslept. So much for getting my recycling out. So much for my shower too. Put my clothes in the dryer. Fed us all.

I’m working on plans for my funeral for my will. I'm looking for a poem that I wrote many years ago, but no luck so far. Found it on the Wayback Machine for an old Web site! Yay! I think that I'll just say in the will to follow the funeral plans in the "End of Life Ceremonies" folder in the NokBox. Then I can keep modifying it without updating the will. (Actually, planning it is kind of fun. Is that weird?)

The Champaign County Master Gardeners are sponsoring a garden walk. It's the day after I get back from my business trip, but it's from 9 to 4, so I wouldn't have to get up really early? (Though I'll have to pick up Bella and Oliver first.) It sounds nice. I could use some ideas for my garden. It's only $10, so if I decide that day that I just can't, I wouldn't lose a lot of money.

Lily thinks that my leg is a scratching post. Ow.

Scrambled to get myself together for my therapy session because I forgot about it. She thinks that I need to get back to singing as a way to deal with frustration. (I booked some lessons. I also signed up for a Scales and Intervals singing class for the fall.) She thinks that I've had too many things go wrong for too long. I also was worrying about my job because it's detail-oriented and I'm really not, and she suggested looking at other jobs within the university. I don't have to take another job if I don't think that it's a good fit.

I forgot to mention that I got all my bills on automatic payment (except for the sewer, which is manual only) a few days ago. One less thing to worry about.

My new glasses are in, so I need to pick them up on the weekend.

I think that I want a nap after dinner.

Bella is picking up dog debris from the floor and flinging it into the air. I only live here.

Ordered dog food and dog treats from Costco. I noticed that they had a tennis ball launcher for dogs, but my inner voice asked me if I was too lazy to throw a ball for my dog. So no, I didn’t get it.

Took a nap and slept until 5 AM. I think that the pup thought that I was dead because she’s making a fuss over me :)

I wound up getting my second wind and staying up late. Plan B is to log onto work at the usual time and work an extra 45 minutes in the evening.

Woke up at 6:30 AM. Took Bella out but decided that I wanted to get another half-hour of sleep, so I brought her in early.

Crazy cats are crazy and are chasing each other.

I'm looking at adult tricycles to use to run errands. There are stores that are not too far away to which I could bike. I found one that I like, and they sell it at a local bike shop, so they could put it together. Not sure how I'd get it home though. I could take side streets.

I got an email for the Amalfi Coast trip. Apparently you can customize where you stay and at what hotels. I don't need four-star accommodations. It sounds promising.

I've decided to grow snapdragons in my back part-sun garden bed. Lowe's has them. I was going to have them delivered, but that will double the cost of them, so I'll go by Lowe's this weekend. Actually, my eye doctor appointment this afternoon is nearby, so I'll pop in afterward.

I've run into a snag. My therapist is changing practices. She wants a LOCAL Emergency Contact Person, and I don't have one. I emailed her asking what to do. I really need to meet more people here. She said that she'll put a note to contact the local EMS if needed.

I'm mulling over volunteering at the local Humane Society. The good news is that I love working with cats; the bad news is that I love cats and don't want to end up with another one. Oliver and Lily get along so well that I don't want to rock the boat. Also, I have volunteered to take my dad and Sue's cat if they no longer can take care of him. He's a real cutie. (BTW, I'm adding the local Humane Society to my will. The proceeds from the sale of my car or cars will go to them. That should buy a lot of cat food.)

The appointment with the psychiatrist went quickly. She’s going to keep me on the increased meds and will see me in three months.

Bella is excited that I left and came back! She is happy! Silly pooch :)

I was wondering if the NokBox has a lock, and apparently there's a spot for a small combination lock. I want to put the logins for my bank accounts in it, but I don't want them available if someone breaks in. So I'll work on my list.

Created my list of bank accounts. It wasn't as bad as I thought last night. And almost finished my list of credit cards. But I need to get myself together for the eye doctor appointment.

The eye doctor appointment ran long. We were waiting a long time for the (virtual) doctor. My prescription didn’t change much and I have it in hand. Bought an expensive pair of glasses.

Went to Lowe’s and cleaned them out of snapdragons. Also bought a fern.

Bella is fussing over me again. So is Oliver, but he wants food.

Fed us all. Took a nap and slept until 1 AM.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I stayed up late enough that Bella fell asleep in the kitchen. Tired pup. Oh wait a minute. Her eyes opened.

I’m looking for a pair of leather shoes for travel. Comfortable walking shoes. Bingo. Penny loafers on sale on Amazon. Actually, I found some Clark's shoes, which I like, so I'm going to return the others. One of them is a two-tone brown shoe!

Got up at 6:30 AM. Threw myself together and dropped the car off to be fixed. Ubered back.

Do I want to tour the Allerton gardens this Saturday? I have wanted to do so. They're also having a volunteer orientation, but i think that I should wait to do that. They have orientations quarterly. The next gardens walk is right after I get back from the conference in June, and I don't think that I'll feel up to it then. Oh, but I have flower arranging there on Sunday. Do I want to go there two days in a row? I could have lunch there afterward. It would get me out of bed early, and I bet that the gardens are pretty this time of year. It's early though. I'd have to leave around 9 AM. No, I think that I won't go this time. I'm looking at July. Or I could just walk through the gardens by myself after flower arranging.

Crud. I didn't register in time for pickleball.

I love love love my new Zenni glasses. I’m tempted to buy another pair.

new_glasses.jpg

My car is ready, but I’m going to wait until the late afternoon to pick it up. I need a nap! Couldn’t sleep.

It’s raining. The mower guy said that he would be there tomorrow. He also said that he'd give me an estimate on cleaning my gutters then too.

Bella did not want to come in. I finally grabbed a stick and pulled her up on the porch with it, and opened the door and threw the stick in. It worked.

Got the car.

So. Freaking. Tired. Napped and slept until 3 AM.

Hibiscus!

Filled litter boxes and put another one on to soak. Started charging the batteries for the mower.

When I asked for handyman recommendations on NextDoor, a bunch of handymen posted but no one gave recommendations. I found someone highly rated on Yelp, so I’ll give him a try.

Got up at 7 AM. Fed us all. Got my groceries. I texted the driver to close the gate and she did. Oliver wants my food.

I was going to go to the bank at lunch, but I had problems falling asleep, so I need to nap at lunch. I'll go in the late afternoon.

I need to find someone to mow my lawn using a handheld mower, not a riding mower, so that they can close the gate. I'll ask on NextDoor.

I'm asking ChatGPT to come up with investment learning plans for me. I need to clear off my desk upstairs to have a good study space. I could use a desk lamp too (ordered).

My glasses are missing. WTF? Ordered a new pair from Zenni. Okay, I found them under my desk chair. It still would be good to have an extra pair.

Got my new debit card. It’s a different number than the old card, so I need to change it in 15 gazillion places. There was a Panera nearby, so I decided to eat there. Well. They took the sandwiches that I liked off of the menu, so I had grilled cheese. They still did have French Onion Soup, which I ordered. The 1/2 a sandwich was smaller than it used to be. But the food was good.

I picked up a library book. Then I went to pick up my prescriptions at a grocery store. I now am the proud owner of a hibiscus plant! They had some outside and I found one that I liked. They were cheaper than at Lowe's.

hibiscus.jpg

I had to wait a long time for the prescription and then there was no price on the hibiscus, but eventually I made it out of there. Bella was really excited when I came home. You would think that I had been gone a year! I was singing “I’m So Excited“ to her. Logged onto work for a while.

Oh hell, I forgot to take out the garbage (done and my back hurts).

Ordered two plants for my shade garden to replace the ones that Bella chewed up. I received my new coral bells, so I should be done with it.

I'm beat.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I was looking at a potting bench on a gardening supply store, but it was $500! No. I found something on Wayfair that’s much cheaper.

One of the plants in my fern pots from Mom’s house is unhappy. I moved it to see if that helps. The other plant is happy.

Woke up around 10 AM. Fed us all. Now it’s nap time.

It’s 55 F/13 C already. It’s going to be a beautiful day.

Napped. Ate lunch. I think that I want another nap. Napped and woke at 7 PM.

Got my new glasses. I don’t know if I would order from them again because they take too long, but they’re nice glasses and don’t slip off when I bend over.

Oliver wants food and is parading in front of me in case that I don’t see him and realize that he’s hungry. He also tried to chew my new glasses and my phone case. Bella ate Oliver’s food when I turned my back to give Zara her food. Sigh. Fed us all.

I really didn’t want to take a shower (depression?), but I finally forced myself into one. Ran my errands. Now I can stay home tomorrow.

I think that I'll feed the critters and crash.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I napped again for an hour and a half. Then I took Bella out and fed the beasts. Now I'm at work. Oliver and Lily have been chasing each other and unplugged the docking station for my work computer. Sigh. They love my mom's wingback chair, so I'm looking for a new one for the library. I found a new one, but I would like to get a used one but have found nothing so far. I found a new one that I like with a footstool, but it's $500. Yikes.

Getting both Oliver and Lily was a great idea though. They keep each other entertained.

It might rain both Saturday AND Sunday. Terrific (NOT!)

I never mentioned that the door to the basement and back door is not shutting, I guess because the wood has swelled. It occurred to me to get a hook and eye for each side to close it to keep the cats out. I ordered them from Lowe's and also ordered a cordless drill because the one that I have doesn't have all the pieces. I received the hook and eye packages, but the drill will get here on Saturday. Now the door is working. I only live here.

My glasses fell off of the table, and I stepped on them. Sigh. I need to order another pair of glasses for around the house that are tight for bending over. My other glasses are more fragile and slip. I tried Glasses USA, thinking that they would be cheaper than Zenni, but not really.

Oliver and Lily have finally settled down.

I attended a Webinar about the relationship between physical activity and the immune system. It's inspiring me to get more exercise. I registered for a yoga class this Saturday and will take Bella for a walk.

Bella, Oliver, and Lily were attending my shower. Lily was trying to take a nap with all the chaos swirling around her. She's tough.

I'm feeling like crying for no good reason. I'm feeling overwhelmed. I think that I'm having a delayed reaction over how the trip worked out. Plus I have a dental appointment this afternoon, and I almost forgot about it.

I'm using my new Holland America glass for soda. Now I can wash the other one!

Note to self: check supply of 9-volt batteries

The dental appointment went well. I got two fillings and a CT scan of my mouth. They were very efficient. I'm hungry but I'm waiting for the numbness to wear off. I’m taking advantage of the wait by making pizza.

I have been bringing out recycling when I take Bella out, so all I have to do is roll the bin and flatten cardboard boxes and take the boxes out (done).

The pizza is knocking me out, so I'm going to go to bed and get up early to walk Bella.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Hmm. The Champaign County Humane Society has a pitbull with a sweet face who’s lived with cats and other dogs. She's a big dog though (over 60 pounds). Hmm, I saw a PetFinder listing for a red standard poodle.

I’m going to open Zara’s door tonight in case she wants to wander around. Bella will be in the bedroom with me, and the door will be closed because Oliver and Lily like to spar late at night. Not exactly restful!

Now Bella was pulling at the string on my pajamas. Help!

I was blaming Oliver for knocking down stuff off the table that Bella then chews, but the sneaky girl is pulling stuff off the table and counters herself.

Bella was whining and going into the bathroom where she pooped previously, so I scrambled to get her outside. She needed to pee.

Slept and got up at 7:30 AM. I’m feeling a bit better, although my voice is still squeaky.

I’m in the bathroom about to shower with a cat (Oliver) and a dog (Bella). Crowded in here. Oliver jumped to the top of the shower and then jumped in. I opened the door for him and Bella went into the shower stall. Maybe I’ll take my shower later. Now Oliver is climbing the shelves above the washer and dryer. I finally was able to shower with an audience :)

Bella was whining downstairs and needed to go out. Fed the cats.

The snow is coming down at a pretty good clip. I have to admit that it's pretty. Remembered to charge the snow blower.

Mimi is sleeping in this morning. Good morning for it.

I've had Bella for a week! It's been an interesting week.

The poochka has taken to lying down on the bed while I'm working. Good. I took her out and she noped out.

Hmm. I'm covered for $2500 for hearing aids, but I think that I couldn't go to Costco. That wouldn't cover full retail price, so do I go to Costco and pay for the whole thing myself for cheap or go elsewhere and get partial reimbursement?

I just contacted a local wealth management firm to see what they have to offer. I'm getting really tired with dealing with the trust.

Left work early to lie down. (I had a meeting with my boss earlier today and she said that I “sounded awful”.) I’ll log on tomorrow to make up the time. Woke up a little before 7 PM. The puppy is crashed out in the dog bed.

Fed the cats. I’m thinking of going back to sleep soon, but I suppose that I should eat something.

Bella is getting cat poop out of the litter boxes. Ugh. And yes, she has food. I gave her a chew “bone”. (I’m not sure what it’s made of, but it has a meat filling. Oh, it might be a peanut butter filling. I need to go to Walmart tomorrow and get more.)

Got my new Zenni glasses. They’re okay. I like the Target glasses better.

Took Bella out and she noped out. She wanted to go back to bed! She fell asleep in the kitchen.

Now that I’ve eaten, I think that I’ll go to bed early. I’ll clear the sidewalks tomorrow.

Bella is bugging Oliver for some reason. I told her that he didn't like it.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Oliver jumped on me a couple of times when I was trying to sleep. Sigh. He and Zara had words. Nonetheless, I woke up at 4 AM. Mimi was downstairs. Oliver seems to be asleep somewhere. It’s kind of nice being in the quiet.

Walmart has a ten-gallon fish tank for only $44.98. And I can have it delivered! Ordered and delivered.

Oops. Oliver is up. He’s following me around again. He was rolling on the table, knocked my soda over and my glasses, and I stepped on my glasses. Sigh. I’m down to one pair of glasses, so I need to order another pair. I’m also nicknaming him “Dennis the Menace “.

He ran under my feet and I stepped on him. He’s in the bedroom, and Zara ran away. He dug his claws in my arm. He needs to settle down. He burrowed under the covers at my feet and let me sleep.

He and Zara had words again. He’s now dozing on the bed. He definitely needs an “off” button. I fed Zara and Mimi, and he was interested in the food, so I gave him some, and he didn’t eat it. Not surprised because he ate so much yesterday.

Zara and Mimi got into a squabble because they’re stressed.

I shut Oliver in the bathroom when I got my groceries in. Oliver fell behind the dryer. I think that I’ll also shut him in the bathroom while I get the garbage and recycling out.

I’m going to try to take a short nap. I’m tired! Oliver is clearly asleep somewhere, and peace reigned throughout the land.

Oliver has to do EVERYTHING that I do. I stepped out of the shower, and he stepped in, shaking his paws because it was wet. I TOLD him that it was wet!

I went to the Humane Society to meet Aldi, who will be known as Lily. (Oliver’s shelter name was Walmart.) She seemed more interested in the toy than in me, but she was cute, and I told them that I would adopt her. They said that I could pick her up tomorrow. Just as well because I wanted to stop and get BandAids and return my library books.

Oliver has taken over my chair in the kitchen. He was resting his head on me and purring. He’s lucky that he’s cute.

Uh-oh. Zara was on my lap, but Oliver came in. Zara started hissing and growling and then left. Now she came back and they’re both on the bed. Much kitty drama….I’m glad to see Zara on the bed though.

Oh dear. President Carter died. Well, he had a good, long life.

Zara and Oliver both were snoozing on the bed.

zara_oliver_snooze.jpg

Later, Zara woke up, realized that she was on the bed with Oliver, and ran away.

Holy. Cow.

I’m getting the dog that I applied for. It’s going to be a full house! I’ll be picking her up on Friday. They said that she's a really laid-back dog, which is what we need. No high-energy dogs here!

talley.jpg

My mind is blown!

I just texted the person from whom I'm adopting her to find out what food she's been eating.

Oliver needs to learn not to jump on the computer. I picked him up and put him on the ground, which seems to help. I need a squirt bottle.

I ordered a new pair of glasses from Zenni. I chose a similar one to the ones that I ordered from Target and really love.

I think that I'll go to bed early--although I need to work on the aquarium--and get up early to go to PetSmart before I pick up Lily.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Heck. I didn’t think about this, but I wonder if I’ll need a new passport after I lose weight. I read a Web site that said yes.

Ow. I fell down the last few stairs and hit my shoulder.

Checked the weather and Monday is going to be the coolest day, so I’ll do some weeding and build my compost bin then.

Zara was sharpening her claws on my new-to-me carry-on suitcase, so I hastily put it in the closet.

Got my new pair of Zennis. I really like the glasses that I got at Target, though, and I’m thinking of getting another pair.

It looks like I'll have the money to get the lawn treated, aerated, and overseeded if I'm frugal. I need to get the outside water on though. Ordered more garbage bags because I'm going to need them.

A new dahlia blossom.

dahlia3.jpg

My Apple Watch is charging, but I want the steps that I'm taking putting away the clothes in my bathroom/laundry room. Hmm, it's almost halfway charged. Done.

I’ve been working on my bedroom. Cleared off the top of the dresser. Put the cloth boxes from Target in my closet.

target_boxes.jpg

Dumped a bunch of stuff to donate. I’m wondering if I should stay up all night and work, but probably not. I also need to go upstairs and work out.

I discovered that the closet rod in my bedroom closet isn’t even.

closet_rod.jpg

I forgot that I had this shirt. I could sleep in it with a pair of soft shorts or yoga pants.

overloards.jpg

Hmm. I qualify to renew my driver's license online, but I think that I want a new picture. I won't have lost all the weight, but some, by November.

Hmm. I’m yawning. But I need to stay up until my grocery order gets here (done). Studied Italian. Fed the cats. I'm going to bed.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up at 5 AM. Went back to sleep. Woke up at 7 AM. This time, I got up.

Hmm. It just occurred to me that I don’t know where my carry-on bag is for the flight. I guess that I’ll look for it today, and if I don’t find it, order one. I was looking at one that matches the bag that I took to Italy, but sheesh, expensive.

Now I’m telling Zara, who is being totally manic, that she’s goofy.

Had a nice nap.

Hmm. Corded dethatchers are much cheaper than cordless. I suppose that I could run a cord from the basement. I’d need a long extension cord or maybe two cords to get to the other side of the house. Hmm, maybe I should bite the bullet and get a cordless one. I want to do fall maintenance on the lawn, and it has to happen in the next few weeks. I bought one on eBay that was missing a battery, and bought the batteries and charger from Amazon. It still was cheaper than the Greenworks one.

The cats are restless because they want food early.

I got the hanging planters for the spider plants. I guess that I’ll hang them tomorrow.

My back has been bothering me, so I put a chair in the library room and got to work. Made some good progress. Found my swim bag and ordered a lock for it. Then I’ll keep it in the car. Found my Clorox scrubber now that I ordered a new scrubber. I hope that it will make quick work of the bathrooms.

A pair of my glasses are missing. I need to order more.

I have way too many clothes and need to Marie Kondo them though.

I bought a used Hartmann carry-on bag for less than half the cost of a new one. It doesn’t match my big suitcase, but that’s okay. Have I said lately that I love eBay?

Put some items on Buy Nothing to get picked up.

Took a nap and really zonked out. The cats want to be fed. Mimi is telling me that woe is her. Zara is staring at me.

I want to post my extra Pacsafe backpack on eBay, but I need a padded mailer for it (ordered). I need one for the boots too.

I started studying Italian using the reword app. I had planned to study 20 words a day, but these words are much harder than the words that I’ve been studying. They cover more complex concepts. I’m trying to write sentences with them, but it’s hard.

Got the garbage from the library room bagged up. The upshot is two bags of garbage plus the stuff that I’m donating or selling.

Had some Avocado Ranch salad. It was quite good. Meanwhile, Mimi has been complaining, so I gave her some dry food.

I ordered a new pair of glasses from Zenni. And I got 10 percent off because I'm a student!

I'm eyeing this cabinet from Target, but it has no reviews yet. It's on sale though. I really like this one too, but it's more expensive.

days_unfolding: (Default)

It just occurred to me that I need a water bottle so that I can take my jet lag supplements, so I ordered one from Amazon.

Zara freaked out last night. I was plugging in my phone, and apparently, she thought that I was trying to grab her. She hissed and swatted me and ran off. Then she came back, but lay down at the foot of the bed.

Overslept my alarm. Decided to take my shower at lunchtime because I have a 9:00 meeting.

I said that I wanted to do more work with user reports at work. Be careful of what I ask for because I have a bunch of tickets at work to work on them ;)

Oh cool! My new Zenni glasses were delivered. I'll have a spare set to take with me to Italy. I love the glasses! They’ll be my primary pair!

American Airlines keeps sending me emails asking me to reschedule my flight if I’m flexible. Sorry. I’m going to be picked up at the airport in Rome. Seems like the flight is overbooked.

Ugh. Zara wants food. There is food in the dishes from lunch. I don’t want to feed them if they haven’t finished their food. Zara sez, “But that’s old food, Mom!” Sigh.

Took a nap and really crashed out. I had stuff to do for work, so I decided to work on it while I fully woke up. Done with work. Now I'm thinking of eating dinner (done) and going to bed and getting up early to clean the bathrooms and kitchen.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Zara is snuggling next to me with her warm little body. Aww.

Overslept. I’ll take my shower at lunch.

Mimi: Hurry up Mommy, I'm starving!!! Me: No, you're not. Now that she ate, she wants to be petted. I told her that she's one spoiled cat.

Hmm. I went to fill out forms for my eye doctor appointment, and got a screen that said that they were going to send a notification to me, but didn't get one. I guess that I'll need to get there early to fill out forms. We're getting out of work early for the holiday weekend, which is nice. Crud. I don't get a free eye exam, unless I get it from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Okay, I got a new reminder about the exam and was able to fill out the forms.

I got my orthotic shoes delivered. I need to wear them to get used to them. Oh crap, they sent them to Michigan. I know that I put the new address in. Crap. My address is correct in the Shop app and it says that it was the default address. This is the second time that this has happened and I’m annoyed. I now deleted the old address. I guess that I’ll toss a pair of rain boots in my suitcase. I can’t find my rain boots. Sigh.

It’s pouring rain out. Oh great, there’s a flash flood warning.

Mimi wants food again. I gave her Zara’s leftover food. I don’t really want to pay to throw out food.

Oh great. Mimi peed on my backpack that I’m taking to Italy. It’s going to take a lot of scrubbing to get the smell out.

Had my eye doctor appointment. Ugh, I have the very beginning of cataracts. It’s too early to have surgery on them though. I did find a pair of glasses that I liked there, so I ordered them. But I came back with a prescription so that I can order rush from Zenni.

Now Zara wants food. But she had food in her dish, which I gave to her. She turned around and walked away. Cats!

I ordered a pair of "rush delivery" glasses from Zenni. I hope that the holiday doesn't mess things up. Speaking of messing things up, Mimi was walking on the laptop again. I shooed her off quickly because I didn’t want her to order glasses for me.

Now I'm going to take a nap. Napped until 9:30 PM. I just want to go back to sleep, so I'll do so.

days_unfolding: (Default)

The outside painting is going to be expensive because he needs to fix rotting wood on some of the sills. I checked the account balance and found, to my horror, that I didn’t have enough money. I sent a panicked note to the trust, and they’re working on a disbursement, but it could take 10 days. I can send them bills in the meantime.

The life coach helped me figure out what I need to do with the house to be done in December. I want to do the kitchen this weekend so that I can get the house cleaned.

My scissors are MIA, so I placed a Meijer order that includes scissors. I have some coming from Amazon too, so I’ll be drowning in scissors, but that beats the alternative. My clothes are coming in, so I need scissors to open the packages! Got them and opened the packages. I got a really cute tweed blazer that would look great with blue jeans. I’m thinking that I’ll wear it to the onsite work meeting in November.

Yikes. Things are heating up at work. And there are a ton of meetings. I tried to get off of the phone with the weight-loss coach quickly, but she wasn't getting the hint.

I’m going to try L’Oreal skin care because, while I love the skin care that I’m using, it’s too expensive. No, actually, I canceled that order and am trying some items from DRMTLGY. It's still less than half of what I'm paying for the stuff that I've been using.

Did some emailing of house-related people.

I decided not to take a nap after work because I have a lot to do, but I'm yawning. I might make this an early night.

I got the kitchen table cleared off. Go me. But my glasses have vanished. I had them on earlier, but can't find them anywhere. And I already had another pair of glasses that had vanished. So I just ordered two more pairs from Zenni, rush delivery. And I ordered two chains for the glasses so that I can keep them with me when I'm not wearing them. Oh! I just found them! They were on the floor, which I swear that I looked at, but didn't see them. At the rate that I'm going, though, having two more pairs of glasses might not be a bad idea. I'm going to put a pair with the stuff for Kauai.

I'm going to go to sleep and get up early and get boxes and garbage out of the kitchen.

P.S. I found the scissors too. There are too many hiding places in this house.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Got the clothes in the dryer. Apparently, I washed the Honda key, but it's still working. Way to go, Honda key. My back is killing me.

Got the app to use for weight loss installed. Logged my first meal. I'm thinking of doing a weight-loss bet through HealthyWage to defray some of my costs (done).

Paid my YMCA bill (it was on my old card) and checked that I was registered for yoga.

Hmm. Another book club posted 1984 as the book for the month. I don't really want to read 1984. I was trying to talk myself into reading it, but why? I have plenty to do without reading a book that I don't want to read. So, no. Plus I have a weight-loss book to read.

I was wondering if I should try Zumba on Mondays. I had a feeling that I had something else going on on Mondays, and it's my weight-loss call. Fardles. Maybe I can reschedule it? Yeah, my coach said that it would be good for me to do Zumba, and we rescheduled for Thursday afternoons. Yay. I also brought up some exercise videos from my health insurance that I can do at home.

I made it to Yoga! I got my "scan card" (you scan it when you arrive and leave) and went to the class. Well. It was the toughest yoga class that I've ever been to. Another new person was next to me, and he got up and left partway through. I told the teacher that it was the toughest yoga class that I had been to, and she said "Oh no!" But I agreed to come back. (it's been hours since the class, and my abs are still twitching.)

Afterward, I went to the fancy smancy grocery store. It had great produce though. I got kiwi, pineapple, and mangos, some cut up pineapple, and some kiwi and strawberries to put into a infuser, and a salad mix. By then I was starving, so I got a yogurt parfait (I was proud of myself for getting something nutritious) and some plastic spoons. And some granola squares. And a silicone glove for baking. It was expensive. Like $90 expensive. But the produce was beautiful. Afterward, I sat in the car and ate the yogurt. And then I went home.

Mimi was chewing me out because she was hungry! And I hadn't been home! Well, I just ate yogurt in a car, so I can't complain too much :)

I have a boatload of stuff to do. The manager of my mom's trust said that I should get a payout to fix the house next week, so yay! But she asked for receipts, and that will take a while. Plus I need to make up time at work because I left early (done). I need to take pictures of my blobby self for the weight-loss coach (done). Etc.

I forgot to mention that I got my new glasses the other day, and I wore one pair for the first time today and love them. Like "I might want another pair" love them. I'll try to remember to take a picture of me wearing them.

I'm probably the last person to realize this, but yoga pants are oh so comfortable. I'm tempted to get another pair or two (done).

I found an "over 50" workout online that looks good, but I need to clear some stuff out to make room for it. And buy some hand weights (done).

Oh ack. My flexible spending account did not go through this year. I tried to buy Zenni glasses, but it didn't go through, so I checked. I paid for the glasses through my regular bank account.

Expedia sent me an email saying that American Airlines had changed the time of my flights to Hawaii, and I was worried that I wouldn't make my connection in LA. It turns out they changed it by a whole whopping minute.

I'm trying to decide whether I want this sweater. I have burgundy clothes that I could wear with it.

Now I know why I overslept last night. I set my obnoxious alarm for AM, not PM.

I was wondering how Jimmy Carter was doing, so I googled, and apparently he's doing well. He's still in hospice.

I ordered some "miracle stain remover" from Facebook. We'll see how it works.

Mimi says, "Pay attention to me, not the phone. Me, me, me, Mimi!"

I had a nice nap. Zara is upstairs. I think that's because she wants lunch. I'm waiting for Mimi to see her and drama ensue.

The weather forecasters are predicting thunderstorms in about 45 minutes. And I got myself together in time to drop off clothes too! Ack! Maybe I could run out on Monday or Tuesday. Yep, it's raining but no thunder yet. And now it's sunny again. I could have gone. Ack! And it's raining again.

I found my glasses. They were pushed under a pile of papers on the kitchen table.

Singing went well. She wants me to start on songs from musical theater. I ordered two books of songs. Too bad that I don't have my piano though. And I'd have a lot of clearing out to do before I can fit one in here.

Fed myself and the girls. Lay down for a while but didn't sleep. I don't know what to do with the recycling littering the kitchen because the bin is full from last week. Maybe I need to just throw it out.

I wanted a short-sleeved white and black striped t-shirt, so I looked on eBay (of course). Found one for cheap. I'll wear it with the cropped black-and-white pants and some black-and-white shorts.

Apparently, Jann Wenner wrote a memoir last year. Reviews said that there was a fair amount of name-dropping in it, but I decided that it still might be interesting, so I got it for the Kindle.

Started laundry. I think that I'm going to clean up the kitchen a bit and then go to bed and read.

Junk Day

Hmm. The junk haulers said between 8 AM and 10, and I was ready, but silence so far. I could have slept later! I've been working on the kitchen table while I wait. I also installed the Picture This app to identify a vine growing in the front yard; it's a grape. It also said that the plant that I like, which we thought was an almond, is a Japanese spiraea.

The junk luggers called and they'll get here around 10. It was 10:15. They got all the plumbing stuff. They did an estimate on the garage and basement, and it came out to $2600, which is doable. I have an appointment to get it done next Friday.

Ugh. I have over $1000 in my flexible spending account, and only $500 can roll over to next year. (I had a lot fewer therapy appointments than anticipated because I've been in Michigan.) I chose a pair of fancy-shmancy glasses with Transitions lenses as a backup pair in the FSA store, but I want to doublecheck my pupillary distance. So I'll order them tomorrow. No, I bought some OTC hearing aids. I just had enough money. I'll still get a backup pair of glasses, but I'll get it from Zenni.

I tried to get the algae out of the pond, but it was too big to scoop up. I'll contact the pond guy next week. My plant identification app said that it's duckweed, not algae. There are chemicals that can get rid of it.

We got out of work early for the holiday weekend (we get Juneteenth off), which was nice. I took a nap and slept through until 3 AM. I'm going to eat and go back to sleep. The cats are still asleep. Oops, Zara got up and wants food.

Figured out how much to put in my TIAA-CREF account (it's like a 401K for educators) after I finish funding my flexible spending account. My TIAA-CREF is a time-targeted fund, and I'm also going to fund a Roth IRA that uses an ETF. Still need more money to save though. Ordered some books on side hustles.

Mimi was hanging around the dry food dish in the kitchen, meowing. I filled the dish, and she ate a few bites and walked away. My talking to Mimi woke Harlee up, and now she's meowing. I swear it's like a zoo in here sometimes. A noisy zoo.

My new glasses are in. Cool beans. I picked them up, and they are awesome! Everything looks very bright and sharp. The photochromatic lenses seem to work well too. Worth the money! Why, oh why, though, do service providers provide receipts in which it's hard to tell what I actually paid? I can't be the only person with a flexible health spending account.

The official grades for my Javascript class aren't up yet, but I should have gotten an A.

I brought some of my stuff in, and left the car unlocked, planning to go right back out and grab my library books. I completely forgot about it, and my car has been sitting unlocked this whole time. At least I remembered it before I went to sleep.

Boom!!

I more-or-less woke up to my alarm today. Far out. It's slightly rainy and cooler.

I forgot to mention that I checked out the second season of Victoria from the library. And I have a lot to do this weekend, so I'm not sure how I'm going to make this work. it would give me some time to do some mending though. I also need to see if the new cable fixes the color problem playing DVDs from my DVD player.

I opened one of the kitchen windows last night and got some cool air in. I closed it before I went to bed though because there are druggies in town who break into houses. I tried to open my bedroom window for a little while, but one of the latches was stuck.

I found some food that Harlee really likes. It's some of the cheap Fancy Feast food that I feed the other two, which isn't good for her kidneys, but at this point, I'll feed her what she wants. They have a variety that's shredded meat, and Harlee gobbles it right up.

I found some decent Airbnb deals on Kauai island. Oddly enough, the best deals are in a kind of ritzy area that's near a gorgeous bay. Won't argue with that though. Basically, there are deals anywhere but Maui. I'm going to start tracking flight prices with Google Flights to get a better idea of how far out to book a flight to get the best rate. (No, I don't have the money right now, but at least, I can educate myself.)  I found a book in our library about a woman who chucked her high-powered job to move to Kauai, and she got involved in environmental concerns. Must read.

There's a lot of different things going on at work at the same time. I've started making lists to try to not forget anything. We got our dumpster, and I've started throwing out old periodical indexes from the days before online databases. Throwing them out is fun in a weird way. Boom!!

My vision insurance posted a newsletter. In it, it talked about photo-sensitive glasses lenses that are good for indoors, outdoors, and driving. I want that, even if it is expensive.

I scored some free ("open") textbooks on computer science to read this summer.

Thunderstorm. More booms. Rain. We're going to have book soup in the dumpster. It was just a stray storm though, and it's over.

I found a look that I like with the cheap eyeshadows from Dollar Tree and a L'Oreal eyeliner. I went to Dollar Tree over dinner, and loaded up with more eyeshadow and some nail polish. The guy checking me out said, "Mmm, mmm, mmm. Someone has a date." I didn't say anything :)

Apparently Gmail now has an autocomplete feature that suggests entire e-mails. Why so I feel like it's the start of the end of the world as we know it? It probably just means that I'm getting old.
