Checked out the room rates at Disney's Polynesian Resort, and holy cow, that's expensive. Port Orleans is more my speed. Or the Swan, but it fills up WAY in advance. Maybe whenever I get to Disney, I can at least visit a restaurant at the Poly.

Overslept. I’ll take my shower at lunch (done).

Mimi threw up again, so I might need to bring her to the vet.

I found a pair of green jeans, which look great with my "undersea" hoodie. I've gotten some nice clothes.

Talked to the vet (the one whom I usually go to). We agreed that Zara doesn't need to come, which will make her happy, but I'm bringing in Mimi during the same time slot because Mimi has been throwing up. Mimi is a terror about getting into the carrier, so I need all the luck that I can get. Got her in the carrier. They checked her out and gave her an antinausea shot and some pills to give her. I'm supposed to let them know if she still is nauseous despite the shot and pills.

I received my evening gowns from ThredUp and, I think, one or more of the swimsuits. Tomorrow is try on day around here.

Now Zara isn’t eating again. Sigh. Someone ate her food while I was at rehearsal though. She's hanging out in the kitchen.

Went to choir rehearsal. It went well.

Mimi ate some of her wet food. Then I gave her dry food, and she ate some of that. Then she ate more wet food, but didn't finish it. Zara ate most of her food.

Booked the bus to and from O'Hare Airport. However, I'll miss the last bus on the way back, so I booked a hotel for overnight in Chicago. I chose one that has an airport shuttle, but I need to find out how to contact them to pick me up. Changed my Barbados tour due to my broken toe. Emailed a person about the San Juan tour, and they said that there was a walk of three to four blocks, but I could wait in a coffee shop, so I booked it. Ordered some makeup for my trip.

Studied Italian. I have Italian tomorrow morning, although I'm wondering about the time because Europe has ended Daylight Savings Time, but we'll end it this coming weekend.

I snagged some (used) Ann Taylor stuff on ThredUp, including a cute dress. Then I had a panic because it had my address in Lincoln in there, but their customer service changed the address for me. Whew. And I spent a lot of money on a (used) cashmere sweater on Poshmark, but it's a gray-green color that should match my eyes. Needless to say, it's in good shape. Mom would approve of the clothes-buying :)

My chlorine shampoo and conditioner are now arriving Wednesday. Oh well. I need to pencil in a swimming date for me then.

The handyman wants to come at 8 AM. Ugh.

Took Mom's car to the Honda dealer to be looked at. They said that they would have to keep it for 15-20 days to diagnose the check engine light, and they wanted me to get everything out of the car. So I brought it back home. Dad said to take it somewhere else. Mom used Midas a lot.

I knocked down a shelf above the basement stairs when I was taking the garbage out for pickup. The shelf broke, and the lid of a teapot broke. I'm glad that Mom isn't seeing this. Sigh.

I worked some this evening on my report pages for our Web site at work. I made some progress, but I need to get some sleep if the handyman is coming at 8 AM.

I started pricing a Di$$$ney World vacation and cripes, expensive if you stay on site. I'll have to do more research into other options.

I woke up at 9 AM and decided to get up so that I'd have time for a nap before I go to AT&T. Now I'm done with the morning routine, and the girls are eating.

Someone posted some videos of rides at Disney World. I watched a couple of rides, including Pirates of the Caribbean, and now I'm singing, "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me."

Had a good nap. Threw myself together and went to AT&T. They've gone down in my estimation because I needed to transfer the SIM card from the old phone to the new phone and no one (human or written instructions) told me that. But now it's working. I called my mom to tell her that I have a working phone and that I'll talk to her later.

Had a bite to eat. Ran out to the grocery stores. I'm still shopping silly and loading up on anything that sounds good, especially sweets. I did manage to get the ingredients for a "Dole Whip" that they sell at Disney World: pineapple juice, (frozen) pineapple, and vanilla ice cream. Yum. Susan Dennis gave me a taste for Peanut Butter and Jelly, so I got the ingredients for that. I also wound up with 15 rolls of paper towels, which is way more than I need, but those were the packages that Aldi had. And toilet paper. I'm not out, but am thinking ahead. (Hmm. I just occurred to me that maybe I should donate some rolls of paper towels to the local food bank.)

I don't think that I'm going to order Chinese food from Chi today because 1) It's raining, 2) I'm tired, and 3) I have a ridiculous amount of food in the house.

I finally got the groceries put away. Now it's storming.

I lay down for a while with Zara and Mimi but couldn't fall asleep.

Talked to Mom. She sounded good. Her leg has stopped hurting.

My mom loaned me the Harry Potter movies a while ago. I don't feel like doing anything else constructive tonight, so I'm going to watch one. I am planning to get up early to view the live feed of the Easter service at the Unitarian Church in Bloomington, but I can go back to sleep after that.

It occurred to me that I'd like to make sweats and thermal underwear when I get the sewing machine (and learn to sew!) So much for not trying to make clothes. There are some old patterns on Etsy for them. (And if I screw something up, no one will see.)

I learned more about the Arizona Senior Academy in Tucson. It is affiliated with a particular 55+ community, but the lectures are open to the public. I'd have to decide whether to join that community or just attend as a member of the public. Other larger 55+ communities have things like stained glass, lapidary, and woodworking studios, which interest me. But! I found out about a community chorus that I could join! Tucson is looking promising.

For some reason, my phone was making noise at 7 this morning. I couldn't figure out what was causing it, so I finally rebooted the phone to shut it off.

Got up early to see Mom off.

Now the girls and I are fed, so I'm going to go back to sleep for a while.

I heard scratching and went to investigate. Couldn't find Zara. More scratching. Crap, did she go behind the washer again? She was under the kitchen sink.

Had a bite to eat. Napped. Had another bite to eat. Zara is under the sink again. Napped.

Mom made it home okay.

Zara finally came out from under the sink to eat. I watched a Facebook Live by the Disney guy. (I enjoy his Facebook Lives, but they do take a lot of time.) I ate also. The tomato soup is making me drowsy. I think that I'll go to sleep and get up early and get stuff done.

Just heard "bam, bam, bam!" Went to investigate, and it was Zara trying to get under the sink. I finally held the door open for her because I didn't want to listen to her try to get in all night long. Goofy cat :)

Yikes. Two gondolas on Disney World's new Skyliner system crashed Saturday night. People were stuck for up to 3 hours. I'm not sure how I feel about the Skyliner. It is convenient...if it's working.

Overslept this morning. Zara wanted to snuggle, but I told her that we could do so over the long weekend next week. Plus, I told her that Grandma was coming, and she likes Grandma. Dragged my weary butt to work.

My dad is going to send "life lessons" to me and his wife's kids. Should be interesting.

Found a recipe for Cream of Mushroom Soup. I might make some.

I was too tired to make Home Chef, so I microwaved something.

Found another 55+ community that interests me: Sun City, Georgetown, TX (near Austin, which I really like). You can take the Greyhound into Austin.

I've got the updated logo for my blog. During the long weekend, when my mom isn't here, I need to set up the blog. Finally.

I'm going to do dishes and crash.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I made a momentous change. I changed my Live Journal style. I still had an S1 that I had for years. I wasn't able to do "likes" with it though. I'll have to get used to the new style though. It looks weird to me.

Swagbucks has a Disney Park Hopper ticket giveaway, so I entered. Wish me luck....

Woke up at 10:45 AM.

I feel guilty when I use the clothes dryer now, but I didn't allow enough time for the drying rack.

Went grocery shopping after work after debating about it because I didn't have to go until tomorrow. Among other things, I bought a lock for the gym and cheap ankle boots. And the ingredients for my Wendy's salad knockoff with spring mix, strawberries, blueberries, and almonds. And I got gas.

Cats: ABOUT TIME that you got home. FEED US!

The risotto was as good as it was last night. I need to check on what I'll be getting next week.

Need to make the rest of the payment for my blog logo. It's good. I'll post it here when I get the final version.

Tired.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up with my alarm a little after 10 AM.

Mimi likes a bubble mailer that came with an Amazon package, so I didn't throw it out. Now she's nibbling on it. Why, Mimi? (Because I'm a cat!) She stopped and is lying on it.

The doctor's office said that the blood test showed that I don't need a measles shot. Good to know.

Zara's been throwing up this morning. I hope that she's okay.

I think that I'll ask for a week from Friday off to get back on my Sunday - Thursday schedule for the school year. Then I'll run to either Springfield or Bloomington to get my debit card activated. It would be nice to get my swimming gear together and stop at LA Fitness and swim.

My stomach has been upset too in sympathy with Zara.

I printed off the Annual Report for Disney to see if I want to invest in it. But I don't like how little they pay people who work in the parks. If I really had the courage of my convictions, though, I wouldn't be planning a trip there.

I received my Home Chef box, and it was really exciting to get it. Oh dear. Must. Cancel. After. A. Month. (The food sounds awesome though. Salmon with hazelnut butter and garlic orzo. Roasted garlic cream rigatoni with brussels sprouts. Apple miso chicken crunch salad.)

It occurred to me while I was driving back to work that I should start a subscription (box) blog. Apparently, I'm not the only one who had that idea, but there are probably enough subscription products to support multiple blogs. I'd start with Home Chef.

Zara was stalking my pizza and pound cake, so I guess that she's feeling better. Good.

I'm going to chop up veggies for the pasta dish and the salad tonight so that I can cook as soon as I get home tomorrow. (I'll make the salad tonight for lunch tomorrow.)

Finished chopping veggies for the pasta. I'm taking a break. Chopped up the apple for the salad, but will make the salad over dinner tomorrow. (It's basically mix up the dressing. Heat up the chicken in the microwave. Toss the salad.)

I'm lousy at chopping stuff up though. I should take a cooking class on knife skills. Need to check the Continuing Education classes in Bloomington and Springfield. Found a knife skills class in Springfield. I need to find out if I can take it given that I don't live in their district.

I was looking at a subscription box with cool stuff that I can't afford. But! I found a pair of blue-light-blocking glasses that you can wear over your glasses. They look ugly, but given the amount of time that I spend on my computer at work and at home and on my phone, it would be a good idea.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Kept on hitting snooze and ran late. I flew through breakfast though and am back on track.

Got my hair cut and no longer resemble a sheepdog. Got my blood test to check if I'm immune to measles done.

Mom and I had lunch at a local bakery/cafe. It was good. I had a chicken salad sandwich, veggie chips, and BREAD PUDDING! Yum.

Mom and I took a nap for a while. When we got up, we talked for a few hours. I also did laundry, and my (liquid) laundry detergent fell off of my dryer and spilled, and it was a real pain to clean up.

Then Mom wanted to watch CNN, so I logged into Swagbucks. I also sent a down payment to the graphic designer for the logo for my blog. Also looked into blogging insurance because I'll be writing on mental health topics.

We went out to eat at Steak and Shake. We then went to Walmart to get detergent and paper towels (I used over a full roll cleaning up the detergent), and Walmart also had BREAD PUDDING! I snatched it. The guy who rang up the groceries also is a bread pudding fan.

I also discovered that Walmart has Disney gift cards. I could get them for a discount from Target, but that would require a longish drive. Might not be worth it.

Lazy Day

days_unfolding: (Default)

Had to set my alarm because the lawn mowing guy was going to stop by to pick up money. Got squared away with him.

I'm playing telephone tag with my doctor's office.

Mom is watching the news on CNN.

Got in touch with the dryer repair people.

Saw a video about the Star Wars area at Disney. It looks fabulous. Talked to my mom about it, and she got excited about doing a Disney trip. She thinks that it might be possible to stay at a Disney hotel. I'll keep working towards it.

The doctor's office wants to do a blood test to see if I'm covered for a measles shot or not.

There already is a mini-crisis at work. I had to log on and forward some info to my boss.

Made an appointment for a mammogram. Oh joy.

We all had a nice nap.

Went out for dinner. On the way home, I was stopped by a policeman. Apparently one of my car's headlights was out. He just gave me a warning. I need to get it fixed tomorrow.

Spent a ridiculous amount of time on Swagbucks. Finally got a good survey, and they gave me a $50 off of a $350 purchase on Hotels.com. Nice, but I'm not going anywhere right now. I was working on getting a quote from Liberty Mutual for Swagbucks points, when my computer hung. I was trying to find out when I started my Esurance policy, when I finally thought to search my e-mail for getting the Honda Civic, when I first got the policy, and it worked. Lost my Liberty Mutual application though. I should take AARP's driving course to save on insurance.

I have to get up at the crack of dawn because the dryer repair guy will be coming, so it's long past time to go to sleep.

Hear Hear

Exhausted this morning. Had a tough time getting out of bed. Got up.a little after 11 AM.

I didn't get a chance to make my sandwich, so I need to come home for dinner. I should be able to pick up some library books to return too.

Mimi has discovered that I cleared off "Mom's chair" in the kitchen. Good. Then she won't take mine. It might be a problem when Mom gets here though.

I had a doctor's appointment. Afterward, I asked them to get the wax out of my ears. They discovered that I had an earpiece from when I was wearing hearing aids in my ear. They wanted me to drive to Springfield today to get it out, but I said no because today's the last day before my vacation. They also are going to call me about a measles booster shot. My hearing is better though.

Now I'm on vacation. Though I have some cleaning to do before Mom gets here.

I fell down the Facebook rabbit hole, reading Facebook groups about Disney. I'm learning a lot though.

Stayed up to almost 3 AM Swagbucking. Opened a savings account just for travel. Got a Target Red card to use to get a discount on Disney gift cards. Definitely time to crash.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up a little before 11 AM. I'm running late, so I'm going to come home for dinner and throw laundry in the washer.

Mimi was rolling around on the floor. Goof.

My roast-beef sandwich at dinner was delicious. I'm new at making food at home (except for frozen dinners), so it always amazes me when I can make something that is as delicious as eating out. The girls were glad to see me, and I was able to start a load of laundry.

Even though I wrote about cooking, I had a frozen pizza when I came home from work for the night. It was good. I'm planning to really cook on Friday.

A Disney Facebook group posted a Marketwatch article about someone who has paid for three trips for her family by Swagbucking. It can be done. Apparently Disney has a tour in which you can get pretty close to the elephants and learn about their care. Mom would love that. I might donate to Save the Elephants in my mom's honor as a Christmas present.

Much kitty drama tonight. Mimi is determined to beat up on Zara. Luckily, I was folding laundry, so I smacked Mimi with a t-shirt. She seems to have calmed down, and now she's in the office with me. Sheesh. It feels hot in here, which might be part of the problem.

Cleared off my mom's chair in the kitchen. Moved my cookbooks on the shelf near the window, and put my library books where the cookbooks used to be. Put laundry on the drying rack. Made my sandwich for tomorrow.

Now I'm going to do Swagbucks for a while. Done. Time to crash.

Out Sick

Jul. 25th, 2019 12:09 am
days_unfolding: (Default)

Forgot to mention that I dropped my Heartland classes to free myself up for side hustle fall.

Even though I went to sleep early. I kept on hitting snooze for a long time this morning. Mimi finally lay down on me, and then I got up.

I decided to stay out sick today. Went back to sleep. Had some ramen. Got my summer blanket out because it's cooler. Went back to sleep. Got up and threw myself together and got more ramen (plus some soda and cookies while I was at it).

The Walt Disney World book that I'm reading is good. I want to get a copy, but I'll wait until Star Wars is included.

I want to get into the freezer to get a burrito, but Zara is on it. I guess that I'll have to feed them before I can get in there. That's what I did, and we're all fed.

I was playing a video of a tiny kitten purring and squeaking, and the girls ignored it. Then I played a video with a dog barking. Zara ignored it, but Mimi emerged from her box and was looking for the dog. (Mimi has lived with a dog. I'm her third human.)

Some people on a Facebook group about side hustles have set up an LLC with LegalZoom. Good to know.

I'm yawning, so I'm going to go to bed and read for a while. Oops, needed to put clothes on the drying rack first.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up after hitting snooze a few times. My phone apparently didn't charge.

The recording for a webinar for which I lost sound is up at work. Good. Submitted the items for the computer system conversion that are due tomorrow.

Picked up my prescriptions on the way home. A woman who worked at the pharmacy was ahead of me in line. She said that she was trying all day to find a time when no one else was there. I said not to worry.

Watched a couple of videos by the weight-loss guy who loves Disney. One of them was in Disney's Animal Kingdom, which I would like to see.

I tried to drop my fall classes at Heartland, but kept on getting an error when I tried to change my password. I'll try again tomorrow.

Trying to figure out what to do. I need to clean the stove. I also want to read a book about running an indexing business. I guess that I could change into my cleaning clothes, spray the stove, and read while the cleaner is working.

The Starting an Indexing Business book is good. It's giving me a lot to think about. I'm trying to figure out how I could set up the fax machine on my printer. Can you use VOIP for that, or do you need a landline? I need a business checking account soon so that I can pay for classes out of it and deduct them on taxes.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Went to bed early and still got up after hitting snooze a few times. Realizing that I forgot something on a form at work got me up.

I need to figure out what I did with a couple of Harry Potter books that I checked out from our library. I had them out during the move. I figured that they had to be in the car because they weren't in the house, and I found them. Awesome.

I ate dinner at work. Then I checked if my library books had come in at the public library, and there were a few, including a book about Walt Disney World, so I ran out and got them. It's hot and muggy out there.

Annapolis is dropping lower on my list of possible places for retirement because they keep having Air Quality Alerts. Who needs that?

The Disney World book is a trivia book, and it's, well, trivial. I should read my indexing business and blogging books. The weekend is coming though.

The Google Doodle about the moon landing is worth playing. I learned a few things.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up on time. I'm running early for work. Had time to lie down for a few minutes before work. The moments stolen to lie in bed after breakfast are the sweetest. Still got in early.

Hot out. I'm glad that I planned to eat my dinner at work so that I didn't have to go out in it.

Didn't feel like cooking, so I made mac and cheese in the Rapid Mac Cooker. It was okay. Zara thought that it smelled pretty good.

Still looking at Disney blogs. I've got to stop this. I've learned a lot though. To save money, stay off-site (which I knew) and buy a discounted Disney gift card. There's supposed to be a way to use Hotwire to get discounts on Disney hotels. I tried it, and didn't see a lot of discounts. Hotwire kept crashing too. Disney seems to be closing up loopholes that you can use to save money. I tried Priceline, and it seemed to work a little better, although Priceline kept crashing too.

Speaking of crashing, I'm going to crash too. I might read some of my Running an Indexing Business book.
