Knit Fit

I found beginners crochet and knitting classes on Zoom that won't break the bank. The only thing is that the knitting class is on a two-hour lunch during the week, but it's only two sessions, so I probably could work it out.

Okay, they're repeating the crochet one in August, so I just need to attend the knitting one now. I booked the class.

Eeek! Mom called and said that she'd be here tomorrow! I was going to go to Home Depot tonight, but I guess that I'll stay home and clean. (I was expecting her on Friday.)

A while back, Mom suggested Charleston, West Virginia as a place to check out for retirement. It has some interesting places and is cheap to live in. Need to do more research. Morgantown, where the main university is, is another possibility. It's close to Pittsburgh.

Cleaned out the car. Did more laundry. (I need to wash my mom's bedding.) Cleaned my mom's bathroom. Started cleaning my mom's bedroom (the "TV room"). However, I'm really tired and keep on doing a little cleaning and collapsing. I need to go to bed, but I need to stay up until the first drying cycle for the futon cover is done. It's thick and needs two cycles. Maybe I'll go sweep and wash the floors in Mom's bathroom and bedroom.

Zara snuggled in the crook of my legs when I went to sleep last night. She spent the night there. Very sweet.

I keep getting a Facebook ad for an afghan crochet kit in which you get yarn and new stitches every month if you buy a subscription. Someone pointed out that you'd be paying almost $300 to make the afghan. So, no. Pretty afghan though.

I went to call the Jo-Ann Fabrics store about borrowing a sewing machine for the Friday "Learn to Sew" class, only to find that it was canceled. Bah. Udemy has some sewing classes. I might try them because they're cheaper than the store, and I can take them anytime.

Oh crap. The weather forecasters are predicting snow on Thursday. I need to get my snow shovel out of storage. We're getting the dreaded "wintry mix" tonight. Have I mentioned that I hate winter? It's the biggest thing driving me to the South for retirement.

No note from the mobile home park management about the inspection. Need to clean my bathroom tonight anyway.

Because I'm not taking the sewing class in Springfield, I've decided to run errands on Friday close to home, and go down to Springfield the following week to get to the bank.

I decided not to go get cat food because it's raining cold rain, and I'm a wuss. I have to go tomorrow weather or not.

I was reading an article about "how to be disabled and green," and the article mentioned biodegradable poop bags. I use plastic bags for cat waste, but that does kind of bother me. The bags are $0.50 each though. Need to think about it.

I'm tired and cold (hmm, I should make tea), so I'm going to sleep. I need to get up early and clean the bathroom!!! I also need to go get the snow shovel, although now the forecasters are saying an inch or less of snow on Thursday.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I tried to use my pressure cooker, but it didn't heat up. I don't know what's wrong with it. I've had it for a while, but never have used it before. Bother.

I fed Zara in the bedroom, but she wouldn't get up and go to the food. I had to bring the food to her in bed. Sigh.

I ran late, but I'll have a teleconference in the morning, so the time isn't an issue. I ran and got Zara's meds before work. It's kind of a drag that I'll need to go back to Walmart after work to get milk and eggs, but whatever. I needed to get into work.

I'm hungry, but I don't have my usual food at work, so I ate some peanut butter. I also forgot my flavored water, so I nabbed soda from the car. Flexibility, and all that.

I found a couple of sweaters that I want to crochet when I get good enough. Actually, I found a bunch more plus two basic crocheting books that I requested from the library. (They're books that I might buy, but I'm giving them a trial run first.) I'd love to crochet sweaters.

Bought two mini pies at Walmart along with milk. They were good. Need to go sweep the floor.

I found a company that makes patterns for sizes 12 -28. They have some patterns that I like. And a "kit" (pattern and fabric) for a plum top that I like. And classes on how to adjust patterns. This sewing business has potential.

Hmm. Zara is drinking a lot of water. She's too young (10) for kidney problems though. I'll keep an eye on her.

The girls are not bothering to get up when I come home temporarily for dinner. They stayed in their cozy spots in the bedroom. Economy of motion. They'll probably get up when I come home for the night because I'll feed them. Yes, they were waiting impatiently in the kitchen when I got home.

I brought home a huge stack of library books on sewing and crocheting. Need to settle in and read.

I was just thinking that it was time to crash when Mimi jumped on my lap. A mommy's work is never done. Now they're back in their spots in the bedroom. I wonder if it's warmer in there because it's away from the doors.

I dug out some crochet books that I have. Yeah, I know, I'm talking about learning how to sew and now crochet? But I'm looking for something to work on at my aunt's house at Christmas. They watch television, but talk over it, and don't have a lot to talk about. I'll be armed and dangerous with yarn. It would be a good thing to do on the train ride too if I don't fall asleep.

I have some sheets and a pillow on top of my wicker chest in the bedroom, and Zara has decided that it's a great kitty bed. I like having her in here. It feels cozy having the girls around.

I had a hard time getting moving this morning. Then I was watching a Facebook Live by the Disney guy until I realized that I'd better get moving.

Mimi was eating Zara's food, and Zara was eating Mimi's. It's the same food, but Zara gets an antianxiety pill mixed into her food. Maybe it'll make Mimi mellow the fuck out.

Zara is settled down in her new spot in the bedroom for a nap. Wish that I could join her.

Ugh. Two of my prescriptions are ready, but the other one is stuck on "verifying prescription". That's the one that I'm out of. Oh well. I should be able to pick them up tomorrow.

Zara was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor looking expectant, and she almost convinced me that they hadn't eaten. But yes, they had. Now she's settled in her new spot for the night.
