Never think that something's going well
Feb. 13th, 2003 01:06 amAfter I finished work for the evening, I went downstairs to continue painting my garage. I've been scrambling to finish it because my bank is offering a special on refinancing, and I need to get the boxes out of the living room. Anyway, I was close to being done with the walls; I was painting the ceiling above the garage door rails (and the accompanying walls). I planned to finish the walls tonight, wash the floor tomorrow (in preparation for painting it), etc.
Things were going really well and quickly. I had just a small patch right around the garage door to go. The section right around the door was Spider Central, and I broke a broom by dropping it when I was knocking down spiders. I was going to run upstairs and get another broom, so I pressed the button to open the garage door.
And heard a popping noise, and saw my ladder jam up into the door. I forgot to move the ladder. The popping noise was part of the garage door coming off of the rails.
I tried to get it back on the rails, but I couldn't get it. The door closes about 5/6 of the way, so I left it at that and put a note on it saying to leave the door alone. Unfortunately I need to be on-site at work tomorrow, so I'll make an appointment to fix it on Friday. I don't want to think how much this is going to cost; it looks like a two-person job.
Arrgh.
I couldn't even finish painting because I need the garage door closed all the way. I think that I will wash the floor tomorrow anyway so that I don't get too far off track.
I'm feeding the cats and going to sleep now.
