It was an interesting day. I enjoyed Disneyland and want go back again soon, but I found that my reactions to the place were very different from when I was a child. I suppose that's not surprising.

We got a late start. First, I overslept a little, and then my mom and I kept on talking instead of moving. (Being slowed up by talking happened a lot. That's not a complaint.) We got there somewhere around 11--maybe a little later.

First, we went to the Blue Bayou (the restaurant that overlooks the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) to make a reservation for dinner. Then we went in search of breakfast, but found that the restaurants weren't serving breakfast anymore. We had lunch (it was fun to sit and watch the people go by) and set off to do rides.

Traditionally, we did the It's a Small World ride first, so we did so this time. I remember thinking that the ride was magical when I was a child (and I even sang the song from the ride at a talent show at school).

I didn't enjoy the ride. I couldn't get into it at all. I felt like that I was looking at a display in a shop window at Christmas. I was a bit shaken up.

Then we went on a ride that we hadn't taken before: Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin (or something like that). It's a lot like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, except with a cartoon theme. Basically, the cab that you're in goes around wild turns, has things almost fall on it, etc. It jerked around enough to make me somewhat queasy. It's worth doing once.

Afterwards, I went looking for something to send Ornela, the child that I'm sponsoring through Childreach. (By the way, I just got a nice note from her.) After some searching. I found some small necklaces that she can wear together or that she can wear individually. Also, some evil part of me wanted to get a Mickey Mouse for the cats to play with, and I found a ball with Mickey Mouse ears. (Harlee loves it; she bats it around and chews on its ears. I'm going to let her play with it only when I'm around in case an ear comes off.)

Then we went on the Peter Pan ride. I enjoyed it, probably because I wanted to fly over London, and so I did -;)

Then we decided to see when the next show at the Tiki Room was. It was fairly soon, so we stayed and watched it. Some of the stereotyping was cringe-making (but I remembered it and wasn't surprised), but in general, I enjoyed it. I had forgotten about the chanting totems and the thunderstorm.

Then we went to see Innoventions (something else that we hadn't seen before). Unfortunately, I think that many of the "items of the future" that they featured are items that are available now. Was rather disappointed. We left fairly quickly, but it was time to go to the Blue Bayou for dinner anyway.

To be continued (and it gets better)...
